Friends of the River Crane Environment

The event this evening will lead you in the search for bats along the River Crane and help you to discover these fascinating nocturnal animals. Every year we hold a walk along the river searching for bats but as we cannot this year, we are holding a 'virtual bat walk'.

The event will start with a short introductory talk by Philip Briggs From the Bat Conservation Trust about bats and the species we have encountered during our walks along the River Crane in previous times.  At least nine bat species occur in Richmond upon Thames.  Philip will talk about each species we have seen, show photos/video and play recordings so that you too can walk along the River Crane and identify the bats. You may see aerial acrobatics of pipistrelles which feed regularly along the river, and maybe even see a Daubenton's bat skimming low over the water.
