History of Gunpowder Mills

If you are interested in local history, this walk about the Gunpowder Mills will enthrall you.  The River Crane had several such mills along it's reach and our expert Chris Hern will share his extensive knowledge as you stroll along the woodland paths. Learn all about the mills, how they worked and the explosions !  There are lots of historical clues in the local landscape and old archaelogical building remains.

 

Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing for the weather on the day. The event is free but registration is essential so we can know how many folk to expect.Register

 

This walk is part of a joint project between London Wildlife Trust and the Friends of the River Crane Environment to increase the knowledge and understanding of the River Crane and its wildlife and history. It has been funded by Richmond Civic Pride Awards.
