Butterflies along the River Crane

Wednesday 03 August 2016
11:00 to 12:30

Come along to Mereway Nature Park beside the River Crane for a fun afternoon learning to identify butterflies. This is an afternoon specifically arranged to prepare you to take part in the Big Butterfly Count which takes place between 15th July and 7th August. We shall enjoy and learn about butterflies in our local area from expert Rachel Hoyes of TCV who run a weekly Green Gym on the site.   Any insects found today are left in their home during the day.  Obviously butterflies don't like wet and windy weather. If the weather is bad on the day the walk will still go ahead highlighting where they are located and interesting facts about them. Our facebook page will have the latest updates.

Please come along with sturdy footwear, and in clothing suitable for the weather on that day. Plus bring some water and sun cream as we hope it will be a glorious sunny day !   The event is free but registering is essential: Register

This event is part of a joint project between London Wildlife Trust and the Friends of the River Crane Environment to increase the knowledge and understanding of the River Crane and its wildlife and history. It has been funded by Richmond Civic Pride Awards.  Photograph of Red Admiral butterfly is courtesy of CloseEyeOnTheCrane by Keith Martin.
