River Restoration on River Crane - a walk with a view
Saturday 16 July 2022
10:00 to 11:30
Join FORCE for a walk visiting habitat improvements on the River Crane. This will be an interesting walk & talk about the present work on river improvement with re-naturalising the banks and the new fish pass at Mereway Weir. It has been organised as part of London Rivers Week. The photo shows the concrete lined reach of the river at Craneford Way Twickenham where a river restoration trial has started.
We shall start by the fountain outside the Brewery Wharf site on London Road, opposite Twickenham Station, and walk upstream to explore the lower River Crane. The walk will be led by FORCE Trustees who have been working on these sites for almost 20 years. The walk ends near Kneller Gardens so you can grab a cuppa at Kneller Pavilion or you can walk back to the station probably by 12:30pm as this is a linear walk. There are bus stops on Twickenham Green if you prefer to catch the bus home.
As we shall be walking over varied terrain and some of the ground may be muddy, please wear appropriate attire and footwear for the terrain and weather on the day. The event is free but registration is essential so we can know how many folk to expect. Due to safeguarding needs all children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We are a very sociable group and look forward to meeting you !
