Friends of the River Crane Environment

This year FORCE are walking the length of the River Crane from its headwaters at Headstone Manor in Harrow to where it joins the Thames at Isleworth.  There will be three walks to achieve this.  It will be most interesting as we watch how the Crane changes form and use meandering through the different landscapes en route. Along the route we have invited similar partner organisations to FORCE to join the walk and introduce us to their areas. 

The second walk will start at Yeading Brook Meadows in Hillingdon.  Along this walk are the Friends group for Yeading Brook Meadows, Friends of Cranford Park and Cranford Action Group. We shall follow the river and the Grand Union Canal, exploring Cranford Park and seeing the new work at Avenue Park and Waye Avenue, before going through Donkey Woods.  The walk will end at Baber Bridge, Feltham.

Logistics : This is a long walk of about 10 miles / 16km over varied terrain finishing around 4pm.  We will be walking briskly as we have several sites to visit along the route. Lunch will be in a suitable park or meadow so please bring your own food and drinks. There will be a toilet stop at Tesco mid-way through the walk. Do wear stout footwear and clothing suitable for the weather on that day. Booking is necessary as places are limited and so we can contact you with more details. 

Travel : FORCE will be travelling by Uber from the Crane Tap opposite Twickenham railway station at 8-30am to Yeading Brook Meadows in Kingshill Avenue, Hillingdon meeting where the road crosses the river, and starting the walk at 9am.
